Clascoterone 5% solution
also called BreezulaFiling preparedCosmo Pharmaceuticals. Two Phase 3 trials completed. Not approved for hair loss in any country.
- How it works
- A topical androgen receptor blocker. It competes with DHT at the receptor inside the follicle and is broken down locally, which is the design intent behind keeping the effect off the rest of the body.
- Latest event 15 April 2026
- Cosmo reported 12-month Phase 3 results. The SCALP 1 and SCALP 2 programme enrolled 1,465 men across 51 centres in the United States and Europe. Long-term safety was reported as comparable to vehicle, and men who stayed on treatment kept gaining hair through month 12 while men re-randomised to vehicle from month 7 lost part of the gain.
- Expected next
- Cosmo says a United States new drug application is planned for early 2027, with a European submission in preparation. No filing acceptance has been announced.
- What to track if you plan to try it
- The month 7 to month 12 half of that trial is the interesting part for anyone already treating: it is a controlled measurement of what happens when a working topical stops. If you are on anything topical, a density baseline now is what would let you read your own version of that curve later.

KX-826
also called pyrilutamidePhase 3Kintor Pharmaceutical. China pivotal trial met its primary endpoint. The United States trial was a Phase 2, not a Phase 3.
- How it works
- A topical androgen receptor antagonist, the same broad idea as clascoterone but a different molecule and a different developer.
- Latest event 1 June 2026
- Kintor presented the China data at the 14th World Congress for Hair Research in Seoul. The underlying result came on 18 March 2026: in the Phase 3 stage of a seamless Phase 2/3 trial, 666 men treated for 24 weeks, target area hair count rose 15.33 hairs per square centimetre from baseline on the 1.0% twice-daily arm against 4.68 on placebo, a difference of 10.65 with p below 0.0001.
- Expected next
- Kintor has said it intends to file with China's National Medical Products Administration. No filing acceptance has been announced, and there is no United States registrational trial.
- What to track if you plan to try it
- Target area hair count is a per-square-centimetre density measurement in one fixed patch, which is exactly what a monthly photo series approximates. If you want to compare yourself against numbers like these later, the fixed patch has to be chosen before you start anything.

VDPHL01
also called extended-release oral minoxidilPhase 3Veradermics. Three registrational trials, all fully enrolled. No oral minoxidil is approved for hair loss anywhere.
- How it works
- Minoxidil in a tablet built to release slowly, so the drug reaches follicles over a longer window than an immediate-release tablet. The molecule is not new; the release profile and the regulatory path are.
- Latest event 30 April 2026
- Veradermics reported that the 6-month topline readout of Study 302, the Phase 2/3 trial in men, completed in April 2026 and was positive. The company has published no effect sizes, no peer-reviewed paper exists, and no results are posted to the registry, so the response rates circulating online cannot be verified here.
- Expected next
- Study 304, the confirmatory Phase 3 in men, is fully enrolled with its 6-month topline readout anticipated in the second half of 2026. Study 306 in women is the third. This is the nearest thing on this page to an imminent result.
- What to track if you plan to try it
- Oral minoxidil is systemic, so the things worth logging are not only on your scalp: resting heart rate, blood pressure if you have a cuff, ankle or facial puffiness, and hair appearing where you did not want it. Add scalp density photos, and note that minoxidil of any kind commonly causes a shed in the first weeks that a baseline makes readable.

PP405
Phase 2Pelage Pharmaceuticals. Phase 2a completed. No Phase 3 is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov.
- How it works
- A topical small molecule aimed at restarting hair follicle stem cells that have gone dormant, by shifting the metabolism of the cells around them. It is a different target from every hormonal treatment on this page.
- Latest event 18 March 2026
- Pelage announced that PP405 data on follicular regeneration would be presented at the American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting. That is the company's most recent press release. The underlying clinical result is still the positive Phase 2a reported in June 2025.
- Expected next
- Pelage said in October 2025 that Phase 2a results support progression into Phase 3 trials in 2026. As of today no such trial appears on ClinicalTrials.gov, so there is no registered start date to point at.
- What to track if you plan to try it
- Nothing to try yet, and that is the honest answer to the question people ask about this one. If you are waiting on it rather than treating now, the thing you can control is having two years of dated photographs when it does arrive, so you can tell whether it did anything.

GT20029
Phase 2Kintor Pharmaceutical. China Phase 2 completed and now peer reviewed. No Phase 3 is registered.
- How it works
- A topical androgen receptor degrader. Rather than blocking the receptor it tags it for destruction, which is a distinct mechanism from KX-826 despite the shared developer.
- Latest event 1 December 2025
- The Phase 2 trial was published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment by Hu and colleagues, moving the result from a company press release to the peer-reviewed literature. The trial itself completed in December 2023.
- Expected next
- None announced. No registrational trial for hair loss is registered.
- What to track if you plan to try it
- Nothing available to try. Worth watching as the read on whether receptor degradation beats receptor blocking, because if it does, the comparison that matters is against KX-826 rather than against placebo.

HMI-115
Phase 2Hope Medicine. Phase 2 in male pattern hair loss completed August 2024. No results posted to the registry.
- How it works
- An injected antibody against the prolactin receptor, which sits on the hair follicle and appears to push follicles out of their growth phase. Non-hormonal in the androgen sense, and unrelated to anything else here.
- Latest event 26 August 2024
- The Phase 2 trial in men with androgenetic alopecia reached its primary completion date. Nothing has been posted to the registry and no peer-reviewed report of it has appeared.
- Expected next
- None announced for hair loss. The company's active Phase 3 work is in endometriosis, a separate indication for the same antibody.
- What to track if you plan to try it
- Nothing to try. Treat any claim that this one is close to launch as unsupported until the completed Phase 2 is actually reported somewhere.

AMP-303
Phase 1Amplifica. First-in-human trial reported. No trial for this compound is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov.

- An injected molecule derived from work on why hair grows around moles, intended to wake dormant follicles after a short course rather than requiring daily use.
- Latest event 30 September 2024
- Amplifica announced results from its first-in-human, randomised, placebo-controlled trial in men aged 18 to 45, using a paired design in the frontal temporal region.
- Expected next
- None announced. No Phase 2 has been registered or reported.
- What to track if you plan to try it
- Nothing to try. A single small first-in-human study is the earliest evidence class on this page, and the gap between that and a usable treatment is where most hair loss candidates have historically stopped.

- A topical candidate the company describes as reactivating dormant follicles. The published detail is thin and no mechanism paper has appeared.
- Latest event No dated record
- No dated record. The company has described a Phase 1 result and Phase 2 plans in trade press interviews, and a sponsor search of ClinicalTrials.gov returns only Eirion's ET-01 and AI-09 studies, both in facial lines. There is no registry entry and no dated company release for the hair loss programme, so nothing here can be pinned to a day.
- Expected next
- None that can be sourced. A 150-patient Phase 2 has been described in interviews and is not registered.
- What to track if you plan to try it
- Nothing to try, and the weakest evidence trail on this page. An unregistered trial is not a scandal at Phase 1, but it does mean there is no public record to check a company statement against.

- Filter by stage. A candidate in Phase 1 and a candidate with a filing in preparation are years apart, and the headlines rarely say which one you are reading about.
- Read the dated event, not the mechanism. Every compound here has an appealing mechanism; what separates them is whether anything has happened recently and whether anyone published it.
- Open a source before you believe a row. Each one is a company release, a trial registry record or a peer-reviewed paper, and each was checked to resolve on 8 September 2026.
- Read the tracking line for anything you might realistically be offered. Several of these are years out, and the useful action today is different from the useful action then.
Reading the result
- Nothing on this page is approved for hair loss in any country. The furthest along, clascoterone 5% solution, has completed two Phase 3 trials and its developer says a United States filing is planned for early 2027, which is a filing rather than an approval.
- A trial meeting its primary endpoint is not the same as a drug being available. Between the two sit a regulatory submission, a review, manufacturing, and a country-by-country launch, and each of those has historically taken longer than the trial.
- An unregistered trial is the weakest evidence class here. Where ClinicalTrials.gov has no record, there is no public document to check a company statement against, and the row says so rather than repeating the statement.
- The gap between Phase 2 and an approved product is where most hair loss candidates have stopped. Read a Phase 1 or Phase 2 row as a reason to keep watching rather than a reason to wait.
- Waiting has a cost that nobody prices. Androgenetic alopecia is progressive, so the follicles lost while a candidate moves through Phase 3 are not recovered by it arriving.
Common questions
When will new hair loss treatments be available?
The nearest candidate is clascoterone 5% topical solution, which finished two Phase 3 trials and whose developer said in April 2026 that a United States new drug application is planned for early 2027. A filing is not an approval, and a review adds time after that, so the earliest realistic availability for anything on this page is later than 2027. Everything else here is further back, and several candidates have no registered trial at all.
When will PP405 be available?
There is no date, and the honest reason is that no Phase 3 trial of PP405 is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov. Pelage reported a positive Phase 2a in June 2025 and said in October 2025 that the result supports moving into Phase 3 in 2026. Its most recent press release, in March 2026, is a conference presentation notice rather than a trial start. Until a registration appears there is nothing to count forward from.
When will Breezula be available?
Breezula is the trade name being used for clascoterone 5% solution, and it is the furthest along of anything here. Cosmo reported 12-month Phase 3 data on 15 April 2026 from a programme of 1,465 men across 51 centres, and said a United States filing is planned for early 2027 with a European submission in preparation. No regulator has accepted a filing for it yet, so no launch date exists.
Is any of this approved for hair loss?
No. Not in the United States, not in Europe, and not in China. The treatments that are approved for androgenetic alopecia are the ones that have been approved for decades, and nothing on this page has joined them. Any site offering to sell you one of these compounds today is selling something that has not been through the review that would tell you whether it is safe at that dose.
Should I wait for one of these instead of treating now?
That is a question for a doctor rather than a web page, but the arithmetic is worth seeing. Androgenetic alopecia is progressive, so hair lost during a wait is not returned by a launch, and the closest candidate here is a filing away from a review that has not started. What you can do independently of the decision is build a dated record now, so that whatever you eventually take can be judged against something rather than against memory.

If a row's latest event looks old, that is usually accurate rather than neglect: several of these programmes have published nothing for a year or more.
